Oxyrhynchus: A City and its Texts, Virtual Exhibition: Navigation

Old Testament: Esther E16 - 9.3: late first or early second century AD

This handsome manuscript, the second of its three columns complete, is the only known papyrus of Esther in roll-form, and the only papyrus MS. to have this passage. A roll (as opposed to a codex) is a rare format for Biblical texts, and may point to a Jewish provenance.
